We understand how extremely precious your little ones are, and how vulnerable they can be. Stebbing Green day nursery Is committed to safeguarding.
Children learn best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met, and when they have positive relationships with the adults caring for them. The EYFS safeguarding and welfare requirements are designed to help us create a high-quality environment at Stebbing green day nursery which is welcoming, safe and stimulating, and where children can enjoy learning and grow in confidence.
We follow all possible steps to keep children and families safe and well; Stebbing green day nursery takes pride in the effectiveness of:
-
Safeguarding children;
-
ensuring the suitability of adults who have contact with children;
-
promoting good health;
-
managing behaviour;
-
maintaining records, policies and procedures;
-
Child protection.
We follow Essex Safeguarding Children Board regulations (ESCB) when devising our safeguarding and child protection policies which can be found and downloaded here ('Working Together to Safeguard Children''Keeping Children Safe in Education' 'Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures'), and more in the ‘parent section’ of our website.
We have two designated safeguarding leads (DSL’s) at Stebbing Green Day Nursery: Terri Barnett and Tracey Gypps. Both safeguarding leads have attended child protection training courses that enable them to identify, understand and respond appropriately to signs of possible abuse and neglect. It is the designated safeguarding leads responsibility for liaison with local statutory children's services agencies, and with the LSCB. We refer to the Southend, Essex and Thurrock (SET) procedures and regularly update our training.
We ensure that all practitioners at Stebbing green day nursery have up to date knowledge of safeguarding issues and provide training to enable all staff to identify signs of possible abuse and neglect at the earliest opportunity, and to respond in a timely and appropriate way. We annually review our safeguarding policies and procedures, and include a slot dedicated to discussions about safeguarding practice at each of our staff meetings providing support, advice and guidance to any other staff on an ongoing basis, and on any specific safeguarding issue as required.
If you would like more information about our safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, or to report a concern, please contact the nursery office on 01371 856594.
